AMANDA RUE, FOUNDER & WORKSHOP LEAD

Amanda Rue is a compassionate leader, strategist and reiki practitioner and teacher. Her passion for business, communication and the human experience led her to pursue a career in advertising and mass communications. During that time, she found her way to creative agencies - both big and small, creating a trajectory that would eventually lead to the development of The Shift Work Shop.

With a focus on building meaningful relationships between brands and consumers, she quickly learned of the real dynamics, relationships and politics that exist behind the scenes that directly impact the quality of work, productivity in the workplace, and overall personal growth. She now aims to support companies and organizations in the development of healthier workplaces that bring humanity, and all that entails, to the forefront.

After speaking out about her own experience at Vice Media, she now advocates, facilitates and offers workshops with the ambition of creating safer and healthier workplaces for all.

At the Shift Work Shop, all of our programming aims to be:

  • Nuanced & Progressive - We have an open and progressive attitude toward harm reduction and relationships in the workplace. With this approach, we highlight the importance of consent, and communication in creating safe relationships of all kinds in the workplace.

  • Authentically Human - When addressing issues of human interaction, power dynamics and behavior, we acknowledge the beautiful infallibly of all humans, and bring this authenticity to every occasion.

  • Interactive & Relevant - What’s unique about our offering is the workshop format that allows for better learning outcomes rather than passive presentations that simply aim to ‘check the box.’

WE’VE GOT WORK TO DO

Gone are the days of ‘work – life’ balance. We now don’t want to just punch a clock, but want to be able to show up and have our work be a reflection of who we are and how we relate to the world. We aim to create a future of work that supports the whole individual – creating strong mind, body and spirit in the workplace.

The ‘Me Too’ movement has invigorated a population of historically marginalized voices to collectively speak out against inequality in the workplace, while many men are left unsure of how to navigate the changing climate. At The Shift Work Shop, we believe this dynamic is a symptom to a much larger problem -  a lack of understanding, compassion, and empathy between human connection in the workplace and how we can come together to create more collaborative, efficient and profitable workplaces.

We aim to foster productive conversation, meaningful self-development and consent-forward practices within the workplace. We bring humanity back to human resources.

MISSION

We exist to completely eradicate sexism & harassment in the workplace.

VISION

A world free from harassment of all kinds that allows us to show up as our full selves where we are respected and valued for diversity of thought and experience.
